Senior Audit Accountant

Position Summary

A Senior Audit Accountant is primarily responsible for completing diversified accounting and audit assignments under minimal supervision. Senior Audit Accountants communicate directly with clients to provide exceptional service and assistance regarding tax matters and provide guidance to Team Accountants and Interns.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs diversified accounting and auditing assignments under the direction of Supervisor, Manager or Partner.
  • Demonstrates competency in technical skills, in work quality and application of professional and firm standards.
  • Meets time constraints and client deadlines.
  • Participates in planning and scheduling client engagements.
  • Directs and instructs staff, where applicable, in work to be performed and work paper review.
  • Determines the extent of test-checking required in an audit and selects the transactions to be tested.
  • Prepares and indexes workpapers; performs various procedures established under generally accepted accounting principles to verify accuracy and validity of client’s financial matters.
  • Suggests client tax planning ideas to Supervisor, Manager or Partner.
  • Prepares routine correspondence to client for approval and signature of a partner; writes comments for management letters.
  • Performs broad range of accountant tasks entrusted by Supervisor, Manager or Partner.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • At least three (3) years of experience desired in public accounting, demonstrating a progression in complexity of tax knowledge, auditing and accounting tasks.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in accounting, taxation preferred, or closely corresponding field.
  • Either hold a current and valid Certified Public Accountant’s license or be working toward obtaining such license by taking and passing the applicable state CPA exam.
  • If licensed, should be a member in good standing with the American Institute of CPAs.
  • Minimum of forty (40) hours of continuing professional education is required each year.
  • Proficiency in use of computers, accounting and tax software programs.
  • A current, valid driver license.
