About Us

In fall 2008 Nic and Jen Welty started their own small farm in Omena (north of Suttons Bay) and called it 9 Bean Rows. Their mission was to create greater availability and diversity of fresh, local foods for our community 52 weeks of the year. The farm, while modest in size, is filled with wild and cultivated edibles. There are ramps, blackberries, red raspberries, apple trees, choke cherries, asparagus, rhubarb, table grapes, garlic, walnut trees, sugar maples, and a forest full of edible wild mushrooms. The use of hoop houses allows for a year-round harvest. CSA shares are available as well.

9 Bean Rows has grown to include a bakery and cafe.

Bakery

Our bakery makes a variety of breads, raised only by natural leavens yielding breads with incredible flavor and texture. These breads are great served with just about any meal, or are a meal all by themselves.

We also have a list of traditional European pastries ranging from buttery flaky croissants to brioche. During our peak season, you can also find cakes, pies, napoleons, eclairs, and more.

Cafe

Visit our website for the latest selection of sandwiches and wood-fired pizzas (pizzas available seasonally from our wood-fired pizza oven). Something for every taste!
